Obituary for Jean Parker

Former Co-Owner of Parker & Sons Funeral Homes and Mother of Funeral Director, Bill Parker

Jean Parker, age 95 of Lodi and formerly of Spencer, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning October 17, 2017 at home with her family. 

She was born July 29, 1922 in Leroy, Ohio to Harry and Fanchon (nee Kinnaman) Shaffer and had attended Seville Schools through 11th grade and then graduated from LeRoy High School in 1940. 

Jean married the love of her life Paul Parker on June 23, 1948 and moved to Spencer where they operated Parker and Sons Funeral Homes in Spencer and Lodi with her in- laws. In 1979 they were joined by their son Bill and in 1990 daughter Patty in operating the business. 

She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir with her beautiful soprano voice for many years, and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and Spencer Pythian Sisters.

She gained her love for the game of golf from her father Harry, and had played on the Thursday morning ladies golf league at Knollbrook for many years up until the age of 80. After retirement, Jean and Paul were fortunate to spend many winter years together in Winter Haven, Florida where they enjoyed time with friends, golfing and where she got her second hole-in-one. 

She was an avid Cleveland and OSU Buckeye sports fan. 

Jean was a lady of grace and dignity and was blessed with a wonderful life.

She cherished her family and was the dearest and most loving mother and grandmother to

Grandchildren - Parker Ramey of Chicago 
Kaitlin Parker of Lodi
Niece - Suzann (husband Robert) Pollock of Holland, OH
Nephew- Rick Parker of Cincinnati, Ohio

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son James Edgar, loving husband Paul in 2003 and sister Ann Pepper Rosenberger in 2009. 

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1 PM at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, OH (330-948-1122).

Rev. Diane Bell will officiate.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. 

Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, OH
